Children can make your day with the smallest gesture. They are so innocent and pure, and they don’t have any bad intent in their heart. When they ask you something, they say it with so much innocence that you can’t help but be moved by it. The little girl in this story was out for dinner at Panera Bread. That is when she saw a police officer eating alone during his break. While most of us wouldn’t think much about that sight, the little girl decided to do something about it.
4-year-old Lillian walked up to Sgt. Steven Dearth. He was eating alone at the café and making the most of his break. Out of nowhere, the little girl asked him if she could join him for dinner. It must have taken the officer by surprise. You would be too if a random stranger came up to you and asked the same! But the officer was happy to oblige. He was glad to have some company, that too of an adorable and observant little girl like Lillian.
Hingham Police Department even posted their photo on Facebook, saying: “When a new 4 year old friend we just met wants to sit with us on a dinner break. A very adorable and very outgoing Lillian with Sgt. Steven Dearth having the best dinner date ever.”
They had a wonderful and memorable dinner together, and the officer even gave Lillian a Junior Police Officer sticker. What a wonderful way of inspiring children and letting them know police are good guys! This might have been their first dinner, but Lillian certainly didn’t want it to be their last. She asked him to have dinner again with her “in a few days”!
After this picture was posted by the police, the internet couldn’t get enough of it! Lillian’s sweet gesture really won everyone’s hearts. Eating alone is something we take for granted, but this little girl reminded us all how a bit of company goes a long way.
