We can’t help but get nostalgic when we think of all the television programs we used to watch as children. Many of us grew up watching Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood on TV. Everyone wanted to be his neighbor because he was so nice. Fred Rogers was one of the best, and he has touched many lives. Even though he’s not with us, he’s made a place for himself in people’s hearts.

Jeff Erlanger appeared on Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood in 1981 when he was just 10 years old. Jeff was a quadriplegic from a very young age after undergoing surgery for a spinal tumor. The way he shared his story with Mr. Rogers was really moving indeed. According to people close to him, even Mr. Rogers was especially moved by this moment.

So when Mr. Rogers was inducted into the TV Academy Hall of Fame in 1999, Jeff decided to surprise him. He came onstage during Mr. Roger’s slot! Mr. Rogers was really happy to see him, and was happy to hear of his progress. Jeff Erlanger was involved in politics in Madison and has been an inspiration thanks to his kindness. Unfortunately, he passed away at the very young age of 36 on June 2007.

These men might not be with us anymore, but they will always live on in our hearts and minds for sure.
